Knowing Where to Begin

There is nothing like driving down the road, coming to a set of traffic lights and not knowing whether to turn left, right or to continue going straight.

Have you ever had that feeling?

Where you thought you knew where you were headed, but for some unknown reason you became confused or distracted -- you saw something bright and shiny that captured your attention and took you totally off path.

And then came that dreaded feeling that you're completely lost. You're asking yourself, "where was I headed in the first place?"

This is what I like to call a "Clarity Cloud".

It's when feelings or thoughts likes this come up at the most unexpected moments. When you're in a simple place, like driving and not knowing where to go. The cloud can pass quickly, or it can hang around and linger.

When it lingers; feelings, thoughts and emotions become even more cloudy, dark and stormy. They can have such a detrimental effect on how we feel about yourself, you career, your abilities, your knowledge and your choices.

And that's when the spiral of self-doubt starts. The volume of your special inner voice is suddenly louder than ever and telling you stuff like:

"I'm really unhappy doing this"
"There has to be more for me"
"I'm not cut out for this"
"I have no idea where I am headed"
"How do I know I am doing the right thing?"
"How do I know what to do next?"
"What else could I be doing?"
"What if I fail?"
"What will people say?"

Then suddenly you're filled with fear. Knowing that you want MORE but afraid to take the first step or not knowing what the first step even looks like! You're scared of changing and failing. That you will just end up where you started or doing something you don’t like just to make ends meet.

You become so afraid that you start looking for inspiration and search for that "what else".

Then come the rapid thoughts. The scroll... scroll… scroll. The google searches. The social media inspiration and influencers.

You have so many ideas but you're not sure which one to clutch and chase. So out of fear, you dismiss them with the old "that won’t work because..." or you simply just don’t feel connected to any of them.

You're telling yourself stories like you can't see any money coming in from following that path, or things are just too unclear.

During your searching there is that little glimmer of hope, because well you have soooo many ideas that you start the hunt and gather information of which idea you should bring to life next. You have hope that this next idea will give and provide you with your desires.

Then all of a sudden with your 101 ideas, you start to build this massive To-Do List of all the things that need to happen first, before you can even bring that 1 idea to life and start earning an income.

Sound familiar?

I know it all too well…

The feeling of Pop Corn Brain where your mind is popping with too many ideas, too many To Do’s and well a whole lot of TOO MANY!!!

STOP NOW!!

Firstly, if you continue down this track you are setting yourself towards Business & Life Overwhelm, and when you hit Overwhelm Country – Burnout Bridge is just around the corner.

So why are you feeling like this and how do you overcome it?

Simply, it’s your VISION!

And I am not just talking about Business Vision but I am talking about your VISION for You! Your business is a direct reflection of you. If you're clear on what you want for yourself, then coming up with a vision for your business comes easy.

When you feel like this, it could also mean that the decisions you have made for your business / life are not in alignment with your Values.

And when you're operating out of alignment of your Values, this is the perfect time for that dreaded Clarity Cloud to appear...

If I take you back to the analogy of the Car and Driving, imagine leaving home that morning and knowing exactly where you needed to go. However, along the way, you became distracted or lost the directions.

With a super clear Destination, you can learn to quiet down the distractions.

And, if for some reason you lose the directions on the way… you know that you can tap into other resources and tools to get you back on track towards your destination and / or you can just follow the signs and go with your gut.

Having a clear defined Vision for your Life is the first step towards living a life on purpose.

And one of the first tools and resources to help establish and set your vision is knowing what your values are, and knowing what values you may need to change, tweak or adapt to truly step into the life you want more of for yourself.
